On-premise Excel dependence is a major concern for every Key Decision Maker (KDM) – though resplendent treasures are held within it, all too often, you don’t hold the key. Karim from accounting might have a terrible habit of updating his personal copies of important client spreadsheets, without sharing them with his team. This leaves you to make crucial calls with one hand tied your back – all the while, he’s swanned off on annual leave to Antigua for the next two weeks and your carrier pigeon has gone missing over the Atlantic.
But by taking advantage of Dynamics 365 Business Central’s smart, integrated functionalities, this need no longer be the case. Here’s how your cloud-enabled solution gives you access to the right data, all the time:
Exporting data to Excel
Disparate systems kill your team’s productivity. In fact, a study showed that UK workers wasted 400 million days a year on unnecessary admin tasks. This makes Excel’s integration into Microsoft Dynamics 365 all the more important.
In this example, imagine you’re creating a report from your customer ledger entries and you’re looking for the quarterly sales from each of your clients.
By clicking ‘Edit in Excel’ we can export the data directly from the CRM to Excel. Here, the data can be refreshed and updated via the cloud.
Once you have dragged and dropped the appropriate criteria for the report, a pivot table is created. Then, to view sales, a filter needs to be created which shows posted invoices.
This provides us with the desired information and we can create a chart to represent our findings if desired. By doing this, the rest of the team to quickly benefit from the insights you have gained by hitting refresh.
Empowering Business Central users
As a user-friendly, streamlined solution, Business Central empowers its users to modify data within Excel, without creating silos. The solution also removes the need to manually import and export data between systems and, thereby, the risk of losing work and data through inefficiency.
With up to date client databases, you can perform accurate reporting and analytics, actioning them in the most appropriate and informed way possible. Perhaps most importantly, this means that you and your team are reinforced and enhanced by the data at your disposal – and, of course – that Karim can rest easy on his exorbitantly long break.
